Shingle roofing
Architectural shingles, over a system that earns them.
The shingles are the part you see. What we put under them is the part that decides how long they last.
Shingle roofing
Why the underlayment matters more than the colour.
Most homes around here get architectural asphalt shingles: heavier, dimensional, rated for the wind we actually get.
But a shingle is only the outer layer — membrane at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, a starter course, metal at every edge.
That is what keeps water out when ice dams up or wind drives the rain uphill.
- Architectural asphalt shingles in the colour you pick.
- Ice and water shield at eaves, valleys and penetrations.
- Full synthetic underlayment — no felt left exposed overnight.
- Starter course at eaves and rakes, hip and ridge caps to finish.

Shingle roofing
Ventilation is part of the roof.
Ridge vent along the peak with intake at the eaves lets the attic breathe — that is what stops summer heat cooking the shingles from underneath and winter moisture condensing on the deck.
Questions
Shingle roofing, answered.
What kind of shingles do you install?
Architectural asphalt shingles are the standard here — dimensional, heavier than three-tab and rated for Michigan wind. We will go through the colour and profile options with your quote.
Do you do anything other than asphalt?
Yes. Flat and low-slope systems for porches, additions and commercial roofs, plus the metal flashing and chimney work that goes with either.
What is ice and water shield?
A self-adhering membrane that sticks directly to the deck at the eaves, valleys and around penetrations. When an ice dam forces water back up under the shingles, that membrane is what stops it reaching the wood.
Are the shingles under warranty?
The manufacturer warrants the materials and we warrant our workmanship. Both get explained before you sign, in plain terms.
